Psalms

Psalm 1

1Day after day my heart is broken, night after night I cry aloud and my tears flow unabated. 2My sins are too numerous to number, and the wickedness of my people is beyond my comprehension. 3My heart is corrupt and beyond renewal, and my nation like the rotting corpse of a beast in the desert. 4Woe, woe, woe is me! There is none who can comfort me and I will not be consoled. 5We will surely be cast into the depths of Hades, into the very darkness of death, even into oblivion. 6Then the angel of the Lord spoke saying, The Spirit of God is in all the earth and sees all things and there is nothing hidden from His eyes. 7Behold, the Lord your God has drawn near to you: He drew near in the night and examined your heart, in the darkness He bowed His head and listened to your cries, and He gathered your tears as a witness. 8He who formed you knows the evil that dwells in your heart and He knows every desire and intent thereof. 9But the Lord is full of compassion and His mercy is from everlasting ages past. The Lord has blotted out your sins and they shall never be found; He has shown you mercy in the day of your distress. 10Stand, therefore, and hope in the Lord your God, your deliverer and redeemer. 11The Lord has cleansed your heart and renewed your spirit that from now on you should seek and walk in His ways; for by His testimonies shall you keep yourself pure in the inward parts. 12Day after day I shall praise the Lord for His mercy and night after night I shall give You thanks.

Psalm 2

1In you, Oh Abraham, our families are blessed. In all the earth was none like this, the One who gives us all sweet rest and after this eternal bliss. 2From your loins came forth our Savoir and we beheld His grace and favor.

Psalm 3

1Your glory, O Lord, is manifested in the entire world and throughout all the ages to every generation as a witness. You alone are the Lord of glory. 2You, O Lord, are my shield and sword; You stand in the way of me enemies to defend me, and You slay them with Your breath.

Psalm 4

1Oh Lord, my Great Redeemer, I confess to You, O Lord, that I have sinned against You. If I had sinned unintentionally, then I might feel only guilt, but I have sinned wilfully and I am greatly ashamed. 2I do not deserve mercy and You are just to condemn me to death and to the darkness of the grave forever. 3My heart is corrupt and full of wickedness and it surely would have been better if I were never born. For I have scorned your goodness and kindness and despised the precious gift of life. 4Your word has convicted me of sin and now I am at my lowest depth; I despise myself and have slumped into the darkest despair. 5And yet Your word, O Lord, speaks a word of hope to my dying soul; a word of hope to dispel despair, a word of forgiveness to comfort my soul, a word a love to bring rejoicing to my heart. 6Can it be true that You will forgive my sin? Can it be true that You will create a new heart within me? 7O Lord, with many tears and inexpressible sounds, I call upon Your name, I call upon Your mercy. Hear me, O Lord, my Great Redeemer.
